Cofton Holidays, the multi-award-winning holiday park near Dawlish, South Devon, has received two major accolades that recognise not only its sustained conservation efforts over the past two centuries but its long-standing commitment to the tourism and hospitality industry.

The family-run business has become one of just a handful of UK businesses to be awarded the Gold David Bellamy Conservation Award for the 20 th year running. This special award recognises Cofton’s sustained activity to protect wildlife and enhance the landscape of the park located amongst the rolling hills of the South Devon countryside.

The sweeping landscape at Cofton Holidays features carefully considered planting, extensive woodland, wildlife-friendly hedges, wildflower zones and even a bug and bee hotel. Plans are already being implemented for the year ahead, including the creation of ‘nature corridors’ which are designed to encourage wildlife to disperse across the whole park.

In addition, Cofton Holidays has also been awarded the prestigious Pearl Long Membership Award from the British Holiday and Home Parks Association (BH&HPA). Having been a member of the Association since 1986, this award recognises Cofton’s commitment to, and support of, the Association during its time as a member.

Mideast gets one more distinction

Athens, March 17^th: Mideast Travel Worldwide receives one more award for its high quality services.

Following its distinction in 2014 as Greece’s Leading Destination Management Company by World Travel Awards, this year the company won the Silver Tourism Award for another of its pillars, that of MICE Tourism.

Mideast was the only Professional Conference Organizer awarded by the jury who acknowledged the company’s long experience, as well as the numerous projects handled, having as a highlight the organizing of the international congress Joint Meeting ESH/ISH Hypertension Athens 2014 that was held in June 2014 at the Athens Concert Hall with more than 7.000 participants.

World’s tallest hotel to host Oscars of travel industry

World Travel Awards (WTA), the “Oscars of the travel industry”, will kick start its 2014 Grand Tour at the world’s tallest hotel, the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, on May 4th 2014.

The who’s who of Arabian travel will attend WTA’s Middle East Gala Ceremony 2014 to celebrate and acknowledge their achievements of the past twelve months.

The five-star property, which is owned by Emirates Group, will serve as a fitting venue to host the world’s most celebrated travel accolades programme. Soaring 355 meters high, it comes in just 26 metres shorter than New York City’s Empire State Building, and holds the Guinness World Record title as the “World’s Tallest Hotel”. The hotel enjoys an elevated position above Dubai’s business district, and is spread across two iconic towers.

The ceremony will mark the opening leg of WTA’s 2014 Grand Tour, a year-long global search for the world’s finest travel tourism and hospitality organisations, covering seven continents.

Voting is now open for the Middle East. Travel industry professionals and the general public can vote for their favourite travel organisations at www.worldtravelawards.com/vote. Voting for Africa and Indian Ocean opens on March 10th, with Asia, Australasia, Caribbean, Europe and North, South & Central America beginning on April 14th.
