ANACAPRI – A new luxury boutique villa is set to join Capri’s hospitality landscape in April 2026 with the opening of Casa Caprile, a restored 19th-century residence located in the quieter, more exclusive town of Anacapri. Nestled among 10,000 square metres of Mediterranean gardens, the property offers an intimate retreat away from Capri’s busy tourist areas while remaining deeply rooted in the island’s cultural heritage.
Casa Caprile occupies part of the former Royal Residence of Queen Victoria of Sweden and has been reimagined as a home-away-from-home for guests seeking tranquillity, privacy and a sense of place. The project is led by Gabriella Russo, known for her long-standing involvement with JK Place Capri.
Reflecting on the vision behind the property, Russo said: “This project is deeply linked to Anacapri and its cultural heritage. Set off the beaten path, Casa Caprile aims to welcome travellers seeking more than beautiful accommodation. It wants to be a home where guests can escape and hide away in expansive gardens with meticulous attention to detail.”
Design and accommodation
Spread across two floors, the villa features 12 individually designed rooms – ranging from cosy village-view spaces to sea-facing rooms, Junior Suites with private terraces and select suites with small private pools. Mediterranean influences, artisanal elements and a strong connection to nature define the overall design.
Renowned architect Antonio Girardi oversaw the restoration, blending contemporary sophistication with the property’s historic character. Interiors incorporate ivory tones contrasted with red accents, selected woods, cotto tiles, hand-painted plaster and custom lighting in brass and ceramic. Fabrics from Pierre Frey and Schumacher add texture and refinement.
Gardens, pool and outdoor living
At the centre of the estate lies a large outdoor swimming pool surrounded by greenery. The pool uses a magnesium purification system – a gentle alternative to chlorine – heated year-round and cooled during hotter months. Conceived as a sanctuary of calm, it reflects the seasonal rhythm of Anacapri and invites guests to slow down. The main living room, opening directly onto the gardens, serves as a relaxed social space for reading, conversation or enjoying a drink after exploring the island.
Culinary approach
Casa Caprile’s restaurant is set within the tranquil gardens and embraces a farm-to-table philosophy inspired by Neapolitan and Caprese traditions. The chef creates personalised dinners by asking guests daily what they would like to eat based on fresh, seasonal ingredients. The menu caters to a wide range of dietary needs, including gluten-free and multigrain options. The CC Bar sits at the heart of the gardens, offering cocktails, herbal infusions and quiet moments immersed in nature.
Local experiences and accessibility
To enhance the guest experience, Casa Caprile will offer:
- Guided trekking routes through Anacapri’s natural and historical landscapes
- Sightseeing experiences across Capri’s cultural highlights
- Private transfers to and from Naples International Airport
Initially opening as a seasonal retreat, Casa Caprile aims to operate year-round as demand grows. Russo added: “I am originally from Anacapri and I cannot wait to open Casa Caprile’s doors and offer our guests the opportunity to discover the true Dolce Vita – not only in summer but especially off-season, when true Capri lovers come to stay.”
A heritage property reimagined
Casa Caprile forms part of Anacapri’s legacy of eclectic villas that drew artists and intellectuals in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The property later served as Hotel Casa Caprile, preserving its charm for decades. The 2026 reopening marks a new chapter, blending historic architecture with modern comfort to create a serene, design-focused retreat that honours Anacapri’s understated elegance.
