Morocco hotel investment is expanding as the country prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal. International hotel groups, institutional investors and developers will meet in Casablanca on 26 November 2026 for the third annual Morocco Showcase. The event comes as Morocco plans to add 60,000 hotel beds and expand its tourism infrastructure before 2030.
Organised by API Events, the conference will bring together international hotel operators, sovereign wealth funds, development finance institutions and Moroccan investors.
The Société Marocaine d’Ingénierie Touristique (SMIT), Morocco’s tourism development agency, will participate as the institutional investment partner.
Morocco has become Africa’s most visited destination, recording nearly 20 million international arrivals in 2025. The country’s tourism authorities are targeting 26 million visitors annually by 2030. Meanwhile, government investment programmes cover hotels, airports, railways, roads, stadiums and urban infrastructure.
Hotel development pipeline reaches 75 projects
According to W Hospitality Group‘s 2026 Hotel Chain Development Pipelines in Africa report, Morocco ranks second on the continent. The country’s development pipeline includes 75 hotels and 10,606 rooms, with approximately 70% scheduled to open during 2026 and 2027. eanwhile, Radisson Hotel Group plans to expand its Moroccan portfolio from 11 to 30 hotels by 2030. The group is considering different hotel brands and operating models across business and leisure destinations.
Erwan Garnier, Associate Vice President, Development, Africa, at Radisson Hotel Group, said: “Morocco offers a compelling opportunity for hotel development, supported by investment in infrastructure and a clear ambition to grow its tourism sector.”
Garnier added: “Radisson Hotel Group is working with owners to identify the right brand and operating model for each location, from urban business hubs to established leisure destinations. As preparations for the FIFA World Cup gather pace, the opportunity is to create hotels with lasting commercial potential,”
He also commented on the forthcoming investment gathering: “Morocco Showcase brings investors, developers and operators together at an important moment to explore partnerships and move projects forward.”
International hotel brands are expanding alongside domestic operators as accommodation demand increases across Morocco’s main tourism and business destinations.
David Desta, Vice President, Hotels & Hospitality, Africa, at JLL, highlighted the factors supporting investment activity. “Strong visitor demand, expanding air connectivity, government-backed tourism initiatives and the continued growth of international hotel brands are supporting long-term confidence in the market. We expect sustained investor interest across hospitality, mixed-use and broader real estate sectors, particularly in gateway cities such as Casablanca and Marrakech.”
Hotel performance, occupancy, average daily rate (ADR) and revenue per available room (RevPAR) will feature in the Morocco Showcase programme.
Sessions will compare performance across major Moroccan cities and international markets, including the anticipated effects of large sporting events. Additional discussions will examine the expansion of local operators alongside international brands.
The programme will also address boutique hotels, luxury accommodation and ecotourism developments, including investment structures and management fees.
Hospitality transactions and institutional capital expand
Moroccan hotel owner and operator Risma, listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange, has completed several major transactions since 2025. These include the acquisition of the Tangier Corniche development site and the purchase of CMG. CMG owns the Radisson Blu Marrakech Carré Eden hotel and its adjoining shopping centre. The two acquisitions carried a combined value of approximately $67 million. Risma also completed the $46 million sale of Sofitel Casablanca Tour Blanche to Pickalbatros.
In April 2026, Risma strengthened its partnership with Accor to support hotel renovations and repositioning projects. The agreement also covers the development of the Tangier Corniche project.
Meanwhile, Morocco’s capital markets have introduced additional financing mechanisms for institutional and private investors. The Casablanca Stock Exchange has exceeded MAD 1 trillion, approximately $103 billion, in market capitalisation. The exchange welcomed its 80th listed company in December 2025 and introduced a futures market and clearing house in April 2026.
Separately, Kasada, a pan-African real estate private equity firm, has been selected to manage a Moroccan tourism investment fund. The appointment was made by the Mohammed VI Investment Fund. Kasada’s institutional backers include the Qatar Investment Authority and Accor.
In March 2026, S&P Global Ratings affirmed Morocco’s investment-grade credit rating at BBB-, with a stable outlook. Moody’s maintained its Ba1 rating with a positive outlook, citing institutional and governance factors.
Murray Anderson, Commercial Director of API Events, commented on institutional investment activity. “We’re witnessing an unprecedented commitment of global capital – from the likes of GCC sovereign wealth funds and DFIs – into Morocco’s hospitality and infrastructure growth ambitions. At Morocco Showcase, we’re excited to bring the major roleplayers behind this growth, and those eyeing the opportunities, together to shape the future of hospitality and real estate landscape ahead of and beyond the 2030 FIFA World Cup.”
Casablanca conference to examine tourism and real estate financing
The third annual Morocco Showcase will take place at the Casablanca Marriott Hotel on 26 November 2026. The programme will address hospitality investment, capital markets, mixed-use developments and commercial real estate opportunities.
One conference stream will examine how Moroccan family offices are moving from direct property development into co-investment and fund structures. Discussions will also cover the role of the Moroccan diaspora in financing real estate projects and attracting investment commitments. For mixed-use developments, speakers will examine project scale, equity requirements, investor profiles and location selection.
Additional sessions will address industrial and commercial property markets, including logistics development along the Tangier Med corridor.
The programme will also cover foreign investment in special economic zones and yields in office and retail property markets. During the closing plenary, representatives of Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech and Rabat will present investment opportunities in their respective cities.
Presentations will address land availability, pricing, suitable asset classes and development opportunities across the four markets.
The event will conclude with the Morocco Showcase Awards gala dinner. Awards will recognise projects and achievements across Commercial, Residential, Hospitality, Green Development, Innovation and Lifetime Achievement categories.
The conference forms part of Morocco’s investment agenda as the country expands tourism accommodation and infrastructure before the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
