Emirates to launch flights to Kabul

The airline will commence a daily passenger service to Khwaja Rawash Airport, Kabul, in Afghanistan from December 4.
The route will be the first destination in Afghanistan which Emirates has served.

It will be operated by an Airbus A340-500 in a three-cabin configuration, offering 12 First Class, 42 Business Class and 204 Economy Class seats.

The service will offer the only first class cabin between the two cities.

Barry Brown, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president, commercial operations East, commented: “Emirates has identified a demand for a premium service airline offering between Dubai and Kabul.

“We expect the flight to be particularly popular with corporate business travellers, as well as Afghan nationals returning home to visit friends and family.

“It will also present a new opportunity for cargo operations to the country, particularly for the shipment of pharmaceuticals, perishable foodstuffs and construction materials.”

EK640 will depart Dubai daily at 09.55am, arriving in Kabul at 1.15pm. EK641 will depart Kabul at 3.30pm and arrive back in Dubai at 6.00pm.

Kabul will be the 138th destination on the Emirates route network, following shortly after the start of services to Clark, Philippines, on October 1; Conakry, Guinea, on October 27; and Sialkot, Pakistan, on November 5.
