Mariott International’s vice-president for the Indonesian market, Ramesh Jackson, said that the mid-tier segment is important for Mariott. He said that the property’s opening would strengthen the company’s portfolio in the market.

Earlier the group announced its global initiative to change single-use toiletry bottles with large, pump-topped bottles by 2020 end. The hotel group is also evolving it’s waste management and recycling initiatives to decrease its plastic waste. The toiletry programme of the group will help prevent over 1.7 million pounds of plastics going to landfill, a 30 per cent annual reduction from the present level.

The group has also launched guest room recycling standards as per which each hotel has to offer recycling bins in all rooms and collect materials that can be recycled. Unique products are being made out of the recyclable materials. Artificial limbs and school chairs are some of the products being made.
