The Cirrus Aircraft has launched an automatic emergency landing system, a step towards improving air safety.
The new and innovative security solution named “Safe Return” takes control of the plane and transforms the Vision Jet into an autonomous plane that is supposed to fly to the nearest airport suitable for landing.
The system allows passengers to hit a big red button to bring the plane to safety if the pilot is incapacitated. The red button can be approached from both the front seats.
Communication with air traffic control, landing and bringing the plane safely to a complete stop will be among some major roles looked after by the system.
The autonomous system first analyzes the data including fuel levels, terrain, and weather when the passenger presses the button. It simultaneously starts a conversation with Air Traffic Control. Safe Return safely navigates the Vision Jet to the identified airport after screening aircraft data streams. The Autothrottle system helps in managing the jet’s speed flight path and altitude. As soon as the jet safely lands onto the ground and comes to a complete stop, passengers can exit the plane.
The monitor panel instructs passengers to prepare for landing during the descent.

If someone accidentally presses the emergency landing button, the pilot can take over and cancel it.
The system communicates the emergency message to the ATC once activated.
The American company is supposed to start delivery of Vision jets equipped with Safe Return in early 2020.
The emergency landing features have been launched by other companies also this one is supposed to be most capable one as unlike another commercial autoland system, it does not require continuous monitoring by a trained pilot
