Every year, millions of tourists visit the Netherlands, and this number is only growing. The government needs to address the problems brought about by tourism and reduce its overabundance on popular Dutch destinations.
Last year, 19 million tourists stayed in the Netherlands. By 2030, that number is expected to shoot up to at least 28 million. If the current growth in the tourism sector continues, the number of people visiting the Netherlands might reach 42 million in 2030. That is surely a whole lot of income. But it also has its disadvantages. Areas like Amsterdam’s Red Light District and the Zaanse Schans are overcrowded with tourists. This is definitely a matter of concern.
