The 14th annual ‘Academy Awards’ ceremony has been held to celebrate the achievements of people from Heathrow and the neighborhood community. The function awarded outstanding apprentices, of the entire year at Stockley Park DRIVER on Thursday mentors and the neighborhood Employer.
108 Heathrow Academy apprentices celebrated their graduation however you like, with entertainers and special guest speaker, Bonita Norris who shared her inspiring story because the world’s youngest person to climb Everest and reach the North Pole. A particular congratulations was also sent from the Rt Hon GOD, THE FATHER Blunkett via video message, delighting audience members.

This, 66 percent of graduates are from the five boroughs closest to the airport: Hounslow, Hillingdon, Ealing, Slough and spelthorne. Five graduates employed in travel, freight, retail and hospitality, were awarded with ‘Learner Special Recognition’ awards by the evening’s hosts, Heathrow CEO John Chief and Holland-Kaye People Officer Paula Stannett. Winners, who have been chosen by way of a panel of Heathrow Academy leaders, all showed outstanding commitment to work and also have excelled in the apprenticeship program.
The ‘Mentor Special Recognition’ award visited Praveen Denzil from Travelex for going far beyond to produce a difference to the success and motivation of apprentices. The ‘Employer of the Year’ visited Butler and Dyer, Engineering Services Specialists, for embracing the Academy concept to aid and implement their successful people plan at Heathrow. Runner in this category up, World Duty Free, was congratulated also.

The Heathrow Academy offers our neighborhood many different courses and support services which will ensure we have been equipped with a solid and talented workforce well in to the future, so when we open the 3rd runway in 2026 crucially.”
This annual event is really a celebration for several graduates who’ve completed their Apprenticeship in the last year, for the forward-thinking employers who recognize the amazing contribution Apprentices and Apprenticeships bring with their business and for the mentors who spend a lot of their very own time supporting their colleagues undertaking this phenomenal possibility to learn and develop.
Since 2004, more than 7,000 folks have benefited from the opportunities supplied by Heathrow Academy to understand new move and skills into employment, with a large number of candidates finding new careers at the airport.
