Bern, Switzerland’s capital city, has been named as the most popular location to Instagram, specially when the winter sets in.
Laser eye surgery clinic Focus Clinic showed in its survey that the city is popularly known for its medieval landmark clock tower and stunning neo-Renaissance buildings. Instagrammers find this their favourite winter city to upload to their social media accounts – more than the Northern Lights over Norway.
Spicing up their Instagram pages is almost the new hobby for many travellers. In order to determine which places they’re more likely to share photos of, Focus Clinic’s research looked at the number of times popular scenic cities and national parks across the world have been hash tagged on Instagram along with gorgeous cityscapes and wintery scenes.
“Bern” has been hashtagged on the social media platform over 1,082,000 times, according to Focus Clinic’s research, with Aspen, Colorado, taking second place with 935,000 tags. Its picturesque UNESCO World Heritage sites, skiing platforms and Christmas markets makes it perfect to fill up the Instagram aesthetic.
The curling streets along with the photogenic antique arcades make it a loved backdrop for the fashionistas.
Switzerland is one of the most popular Instagramming locations for the travellers and apparently has three Swiss destinations on the top ten global destinations for Instagrammers.
