American Airlines Group reported today about its positive scenario of August traffic dated 2017.
The total revenue passenger miles (RPMs) of American Airlines group witnessed a record 21.2 billion up 3.7% as against the results of August 2016. The total capacity was nearly 25.5 billion available seat miles (ASMs), representing a rise of 3.2% against the report of August 2016.
The total passenger load factor was 83.3%, up 0.4% points versus August 2016.
As of the end of August, the company has estimated the third quarter’s total revenue per available seat mile (TRASM) was in sync with the prior guidance of up to 0.5% to up to 2.5% year-over-year.
But then, Hurricane Irma has caused closures at 40 airports in the Caribbean and Florida, including the hub of the company at Miami International Airport.
It resulted in over 5,000 flight cancellations.
Based on the preliminary estimates of the financial effect of the storm, the company currently expects its third quarter 2017 TRASM to be nearly up to one percent year-over-year.
