Getting the mix right for Sydney after dark

A great night-time economy is about more than staying open later.

We're seeking feedback on proposed special entertainment precincts designed to support live music, performances, late-night dining and thriving local venues. The proposal aims to balance the needs of businesses, residents and visitors while creating more reasons for people to stay out, explore local neighbourhoods and support Sydney businesses after dark.

Have your say by Thursday 26 November.

Register your event for Mardi Gras 2027

Businesses, community groups and event organisers are invited to register parties, performances, exhibitions and community gatherings, and be part of one of the world's most celebrated LGBTQIA+ festivals.

Participation is free for First Nations and trans and gender diverse community events. Find out more.

City life

Redfern Oval is closed for upgrade works

We're upgrading this sportsfield to improve the playing surface. We're installing a new irrigation system, repairing and improving drainage, rebuilding the field, laying new turf and allowing time for the turf to establish.

The field is expected to reopen in February 2027, weather permitting.

Thanks for your patience while we complete these works. Check out other sportsfields and ovals in our area.

Photography and storytelling workshop for people with disability

Explore your identity, build creative skills, and share your story your way, at this small group workshop.

You'll work with a photographer to shape a portrait, and write a story, that show you as you want to be seen.

The free workshop is on Friday 6 November - register now.

Find a new look at Tramsheds clothes swap

Clothes swapping is a clever and thrifty way to refresh your wardrobe, save money and help fight textile waste.

Your pre-loved clothes will find a new home and you’ll leave with ‘new’ second hand items for your own closet. Our next swap is Saturday 31 October at Harold Park Community Hall, Tramsheds.

Sustainable food systems statement

In a sustainable food system, everyone can access affordable, culturally and nutritionally appropriate food in a respectful, safe and welcoming setting. Collective actions support a more equitable and environmentally sustainable community. Our support for a more sustainable food system includes community gardens, programs, events, Sydney City Farm, food waste management and grants.

Find out more about our recently published Sustainable Food Systems Statement.
