JW Marriott Atlanta Downtown makes its debut

JW Marriott and Stonebridge have opened the JW Marriott Atlanta Downtown following its transformation from the former W Atlanta Downtown.

“Bringing JW Marriott to an urban destination like Atlanta is deeply meaningful for our brand,” said Bruce Rohr, VP/global brand leader, JW Marriott. “With JW Marriott Atlanta Downtown, we are extending our mindful, holistic approach to well-being into the heart of the city—creating a place that supports balance, presence and intentional living amid the energy of downtown. As our second JW Marriott in Atlanta, this opening represents an important step in the brand’s continued expansion within the market, thoughtfully rooted in design, purpose and a strong sense of place.”

Rob Smith, CEO/president, Stonebridge, said, “The opening of JW Marriott Atlanta Downtown marks an important milestone for Stonebridge as we expand our portfolio into Atlanta and the luxury and lifestyle hospitality space. As downtown continues to evolve and prepare to welcome global visitors for milestone events like the FIFA World Cup, we are delighted to introduce a JW Marriott experience that reflects the city’s energy while offering a sense of calm, thoughtful luxury to the area, steps from Atlanta’s most celebrated attractions.”

Designed by Looney & Associates, the hotel’s interiors are guided by a sense of calm and intentionality, blending earthy palettes of oak, bronze and verdant greens with layered lighting, natural textures and neutral tones. The guest journey begins with a light-filled vestibule entry, where dappled shadows echo sunlight filtering through Atlanta’s canopy of trees.

Social spaces include The Ledger Bar and Lounge, a 360-degree lobby bar, while curated works from Atlanta-based artists, including Kevin Chambers, Mark Mangione, Caroline Bullock, Suzi Selman, and Vera Pawelzik, can be found throughout the property. The hotel also includes the second-floor Executive Lounge for select hotel guests and Marriott Bonvoy members, offering exclusive 24/7 access to communal seating, complimentary breakfast, all-day refreshments and evening hors d’oeuvres.

Each of the property’s 237 guestrooms and suites includes cocoon-inspired headboards and sculptural lighting. Accommodations range from Single-King and Double-Queen guestrooms to the Presidential Suite, which features a corner location, separate living and dining room areas and floor-to-ceiling windows.

The hotel also offers the brand’s signature Mindful Rooms and Quiet Floor. Located on the 10th floor, the collection of 24 premier rooms features spa-inspired bathrooms. Guests have exclusive access to wellness-focused amenities, including a yoga mat, hand weights and massage gun, along with a curated welcome bag featuring a weighted sleep mask, marble roller, bath salts and a cashmere throw.

Additional food and beverage offerings include The Ledger Bar and Lounge; Flora, which offers breakfast and will add lunch and dinner later this year; JW Market, which is adjacent to Flora; and The Perch all-weather rooftop pool bar, which will open in the coming weeks.

The rooftop pool level is home to the brand’s signature JW Garden, which features live plants and herbs to be used as garnishes and ingredients across the property’s dining venues. A rooftop pool features newly introduced cabanas. Additional well-being spaces include a spa and fitness center with views of Atlanta’s skyline.

The property also offers nearly 10,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting and event space, including conference rooms, pre-function areas and banquet halls.
