At the Tokyo Creative Salon 2026 (TCS 2026), the participants will be engulfed by nine of the most famous districts of Tokyo, including their districts of Akasaka, Ginza, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Nihonbashi, Harajuku, Marunouchi, Roppongi, and Haneda, from March 13 to March 22, 2026. This event will display Tokyo’s unique fusion of traditional and modern contemporary artistry and advocacy for creativity. Participants of all ages will be free to attend the event.

TCS 2026 aims to highlight Tokyo’s cultural and artistic legacy and its forward-looking creativity with the theme, “FUTURE VINTAGE — Carrying the Memories of the Past into the Future, New Creation.” It will encourage participants to view the event as a celebration of the city’s legacy and to enjoy the innovative approaches to traditional street exhibitions, where creativity takes the form of urban street art.
The City-Wide Program is the heart of the festival. It
is a collection of innovative activities spread across the nine districts of
Tokyo. They are all themed in a way that showcases the history of that specific
district. TCS 2026 will touch on all avenues of creativity, from fashion to
street culture to cross-disciplinary sustainable innovations.
District by District Experience at TCS 2026
Tokyo is constantly evolving, and each district will
present a new take on the city’s evolving art culture and festival theme. The
following districts/areas will host a variety of activities and exhibitions,
each designed to showcase the local spirit while anticipating the positive
forward leap of creativity.
Akasaka: Akasaka is known for its elegant emanation.
It is where “A Sophisticated Social Hub That Continues to Evolve While
Preserving Its Heritage” will take place. This district will combine new and old
by using both traditional and modern craftsmanship. It will be a unique
opportunity for visitors to see the intersection of fashion and art.
Ginza
The district
retains its position as one of Tokyo’s most high-end fashion districts and
cultural hubs with the title, A City that Inherits Tradition
and Creates Tomorrow Through Continuous Evolution. Program
participants will enjoy Japan’s timeless and historical landmarks, and Japan’s
innovative and forward-thinking districts that aid in the evolution of modern
Japan through historical landmarks.
Shibuya
The
program, A Crossroads at the Cutting Edge, Where Trends
Converge, will feature Shibuya’s distinct and youthful
energy. It will showcase emerging technologies in the fashion industry and
digital initiatives concerning fashion, as Shibuya is one of Tokyo’s urban
cultural trend-setting districts.
Shinjuku
FUTURE VINTAGE SO/ME/RU SHINJUKU will feature programs
related to dyeing, vintage, and upcycling. It will include exhibitions to
showcase the fusion of Shinjuku’s cultural heritage and modern innovation, and
the focus will be on old and new techniques.
Nihonbashi
The Nihonbashi Open Craft program will focus on the
district’s history of skilled craftsmanship and the visitors’ experience.
Attendees will learn about the district’s preserved handmade craft traditions
and participate in walking tours to celebrate the art of craft.
Harajuku
Recognized internationally for its youth culture and
street fashion, Harajuku will showcase activities celebrating the fusion of
street culture in the area. Through experiential activities, participants will
appreciate the fashion and cultural heritage of the area, acknowledging
Harajuku’s impact on the worldwide cultural network.
Marunouchi
Positioned in the core of Tokyo’s commercial hub,
Marunouchi will host “Sustainable Creation Born from a City of Work,” centering
on experiences focused on sustainability. Designed for inclusivity and
interaction, these activities will impact participants on the role of
contemporary urban environments in advancing sustainable fashion and design
practices.
Roppongi
Noted for its active art community, Roppongi will host
“A City Where Diverse Talents Gather and Intersect.” This includes programming
in local museums and galleries that showcase the convergence of art, design,
and architecture in the ever-evolving Roppongi urban setting.
First Initiatives
at Shinjuku Sumitomo Building Triangle Plaza
Among TCS 2026’s numerous offerings, the first two
initiatives will take place at Shinjuku Sumitomo Building Triangle Plaza from
March 13 to 15, 2026. World’s first vintage fashion week, Tokyo Vintage Fashion
Week, will feature over 100 shops along with fashion shows. Vintage fashion
enthusiasts will have the opportunity to buy vintage fashion pieces while the
world’s first vintage fashion week will provide an experience to shop and
appreciate the “historical context” and “stories” encapsulated in vintage
garments.
Furthermore, Tokyo Trace will be a focus exhibition at
Shinjuku Sumitomo and will analyze the designer’s practice of weaving traces of
Tokyo within their works. The first edition of this exhibition is “NOMARHYTHM
TEXTILE” and will feature the textile works of Nomura Nariko, which will
express the narratives of Tokyo’s culture and creative ecosystem.
