A 60% stake has been agreed worth about €11.7 million.
Ixigo has retained an option to buy the remaining 40%.
Trenes is Spain’s second largest online rail booking platform.
Trenes is focused on the Spanish market and other parts of southern Europe.
“This investment is expected to create meaningful synergies by bringing together Trenes’ strong customer base, brand presence, and local operator integrations with Ixigo’s AI-led product innovation,” Ixigo said in a statement.
Ixigo says it plans to further Trenes’ product development and AI capabilities.
To enable this development, Ixigo also announced a 45.02% stake in Squad As Service, SL, Spain (Sqaas), which offers varied tech solutions and AI powered software.
