HELSINKI – Valpas, the company behind the certified bed bug-safe and pesticide-free hotel standard, has joined the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, strengthening collective efforts to accelerate responsible and safe hospitality practices worldwide.
The collaboration brings Valpas into a global network of more than 100 partners and over 300 hospitality brands, including industry leaders such as Hilton, Marriott and IHG. With more than 66,000 hotels and eight million rooms represented across the Alliance, the partnership significantly expands the reach of Valpas’ mission to support safety, wellbeing and environmental responsibility in the hotel sector.
Valpas has been gaining visibility as awareness increases around bed bug risks and the environmental impact of pesticides. The company certifies hotels through technology that ensures each stay is safe, non-toxic and verifiably bed bug-free, providing hotels with a way to protect biodiversity while enhancing guest wellbeing. Its network currently includes more than 300 certified hotels in over 70 destinations.
Welcoming the partnership, Glenn Mandziuk, President & CEO of the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, said: “We are delighted to welcome Valpas to the Alliance. Their innovative approach to creating safe, pesticide-free stays brings a powerful new dimension to hospitality sustainability. By tackling an often overlooked issue in guest wellbeing and environmental health, Valpas exemplifies how technology and purpose can combine to create lasting positive impact for both people and the planet.”
Valpas Co-founder & CEO Martim Gois highlighted how the Alliance’s global influence can help accelerate industry change: “We are delighted to join the Alliance. The hotel leaders in this community are already redefining what modern hospitality stands for by moving beyond outdated assumptions and taking action where others still hesitate. By choosing Valpas, the Alliance and its members send a clear signal about the present and future of 5-star hospitality: a standard that no longer plays with avoidable risks, makes no toxic compromises, and extends guest care beyond the stay itself by ensuring they take nothing unwanted home. This is leadership – now visible through a recognisable certification present in hotels and OTAs.”
The Alliance, which focuses on building a Net Positive hospitality sector, offers its members practical tools and collaborative frameworks addressing environmental and social challenges. Through its expanded partnership network, Valpas is positioned to further influence how hotels define safety, sustainability and guest care.
