SWISS has earned multiple distinctions in this year’s “Wines on the Wing Awards” for the wines it offers its customers in its various classes of travel. The winners extend to red, white and sparkling wines, and include wines from Switzerland. The “Wines on the Wing Awards” are bestowed annually for the best wines served on international airlines’ flights.
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is delighted to have received several top placings in this year’s “Wines on the Wing Awards”, which are bestowed by Global Traveler magazine. SWISS is particularly proud to have earned first place in the Top International First Class Wines category, which it views as a recognition of its constant commitment to delivering the finest Swiss quality aloft.
The 2022 Cayas Syrah red by Jean-René Germanier of Canton Valais was also ranked first in the Top Red Wines International First Class category.
Distinctions for SWISS’s Premium Economy and Economy Class wines, too
The two red wines which are served in SWISS Premium Economy and SWISS Economy were also given top honors in these latest “Wines on the Wing Awards”, with first place going to the Assemblage de Romandie from Geneva’s Domaine Les Perrières and second place to the La Cuvée Mythique Vin de Pays d’Oc from Languedoc-Roussillon in France. The Chasselas de Romandie white which is offered to inflight guests in SWISS Premium Economy and SWISS Economy was also placed second in the Top White Wines International category.
On the sparkling wine front, SWISS earned two third-place distinctions: for its Pommery Cuvée Louise Millésime 2006 Parcelles First Class champagne, and for the Millesimato Spumante Brut Italian sparkling wine which is served to its Premium Economy and Economy Class guests.
Swiss wines in all classes of travel
In consistently selecting quality Swiss wines for all its travel classes, SWISS not only offers its customers a top-notch wine experience: it also provides an exclusive shop window aloft for Switzerland’s wine sector, which is all the more valuable given that less than one percent of the wines produced in the country are exported. So, as these “Wines on the Wing Awards” confirm, SWISS is helping to internationally showcase Switzerland’s wines above the clouds, too.
The “Wines on the Wing Awards” are bestowed annually on the best wines being served on international airlines’ flights. The winners are selected through blind tastings by a specialist judging panel. Further information on these awards is available here.
