American Express Global Business Travel is to integrate its hotel marketplace into the new Concur Travel booking platform, the two companies have announced.
The new arrangement will give joint Amex GBT and Concur customers access to an extra two million properties around the world, in addition to their own negotiated hotel programmes.
Amex GBT’s hotel marketplace includes the TMC’s preferred partner rates, as well as offers from leading global online travel agencies Expedia and Booking.com.
Simon Fishman, Amex GBT’s vice president of global business partnerships, said: “We believe this is the crucial next step in empowering our travellers and clients to get the very best of the Amex GBT marketplace.
“We are excited that through this commercial and technology partnership we can now bring these benefits to our SAP Concur customers.”
Amex GBT clients using the new Concur Travel platform can also benefit from “AI-powered” search capabilities with personalised hotel recommendations, and a streamlined booking and checkout process.
Charlie Sultan, president of Concur Travel, added: “With significant enhancements to the user experience, through new Concur Travel, Hotel Connector and the integration with Amex GBT’s marketplace, customers will receive greater choice, along with personalised, relevant hotel content.”
Fusion 2025 announcements
Parent company SAP Concur also announced two other developments at its Fusion 2025 event in Seattle this week, including an expanded partnership with card company American Express designed to simplify expense management for shared customers.
This will see the two companies launching a “real-time authorisation data capability” where Amex corporate card purchases automatically generate and categorise expenses in Concur Expense at the time of spend. This capability will initially be applied to meal expenses, which account for 25 per cent of all expense items.
SAP has also announced that it will embed its generative AI co-pilot system, called Joule, into Concur Travel and Expense.
Joule will help users to complete their expense reports by creating a timeline view of items, review submissions for potential mistakes and missing expenses, as well as answering queries.
While in Concur Travel, Joule will initially help users to plan locations for offsite meetings, including recommendations for venues and providing “high level” cost estimates for attendees’ flights and accommodation.
