EUROCONTROL and EUROCAE strengthen partnership in aviation standards

EUROCONTROL’s Director General, Raúl Medina, and EUROCAE’s Director General, Anna von Groote, have signed an updated Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) aimed at strengthening our organisations’ partnership in the areas of aviation regulation and standardisation.

This renewed agreement, which supersedes the previous MoC signed in 2021, marks a new phase in the collaboration between the two organisations and underscores their shared commitment to the continued evolution of European aviation.

The updated MoC provides a framework for expanded cooperation, particularly in the development of European aviation standards and the creation of standardisation roadmaps that support the broader goals of the aviation sector. Through this renewed partnership, both organisations aim to further enhance aviation’s safety, efficiency and interoperability in support of the European and international aviation community.

“Standards are the cornerstone of innovation in ATM,” von Groote said. “They provide the essential framework that enables the development, integration and widespread adoption of cutting-edge technologies. These standards are vital in ensuring safety, fostering global interoperability, and promoting international harmonisation. EUROCAE is delighted to continue our partnership with EUROCONTROL in this key area, aiming to maximise synergies and collectively contribute to the sustainable advancement of the aviation industry.”

“This new Memorandum of Cooperation is a testament to our ongoing commitment to collaborate on standardisation matters that are fundamental to the aviation sector. Robust and timely standards are vital to ensuring that European aviation remains safe, efficient and sustainable – both now and in the future. As air traffic management continues to evolve, the need for standards will only grow, and this partnership will help ensure that we meet those needs with agility and foresight. By aligning our efforts and expertise, avoiding duplication and capitalising on synergies, together we are reinforcing our joint effort in supporting European aviation”.
