The 12th edition of the Festival takes place from October 19 to 22,, 2023 with the theme Feed the Future.
The Festival returned last year following the pandemic.
Ahead of the main event, community pop ups at bars and other locations have been taking place and will continue into October.
This year will see the return of the Festival’s seven signature events and a new event, Bajan Fair.
On October 19; ‘Oistins Under the Stars’ opens the Festival. It features a traditional Bajan Fish Fry and entertainment.
October 20 sees the ‘Chef Classics’ cooking demos hosted by Food Network’s Chef Anne Burrell; Celebrity Chef Juan Diego Vanegas; and UK Masterchef winner, Chef Shelina Permalloo.
In the evening; ‘Rum Route’ takes place.
On October 21, ‘Rise and Rum: The Breakfast Beach Party’ is a premium all-inclusive breakfast party on the beach.
During the day, new event ‘Bajan Fair’ takes place. The ‘Junior Chef Cook Off Competition’ also takes place with aspiring chefs.
The Junior Chefs will undergo eight-week training which will include culinary and destination tours, challenges and elimination rounds..
Admission for the Junior Chef Cook-Off competition finals is $15.
“Our teams in the US, UK, Canada, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean have been aggressively promoting the Food and Rum Festival abroad,” said Craig Hinds, acting CEO, BTMI.
Barbados Tourism welcomes Cockspur and Mount Gay as the official Rum Partners for the festival.
