Popular airline TUI has issued a statement to holidaymakers heading to Corfu, as the wildfires in Rhodes, Greece, continue to impact surrounding areas. ITV News reported earlier this week that Corfu, an island just northwest of the mainland of Greece, had been partially evacuated due to the wildfires that are currently raging through Rhodes.
The wildfires have resulted in 19,000 people being evacuated from Rhodes, with TUI announcing that a fifth repatriation flight will leave the area on Tuesday. However, the airline have today announced that their hotels and resorts in Corfu have not been impacted by the fires, and remain as normal.
They have noted that customers will have the option to amend their bookings for free due to the current situation if they are due to travel in the coming days.
