Alquimia dos vinhos: como os blends de uvas potencializam a experiência sensorial das bebidas

Special recipe with Knock Knock, a label produced in Valencia that mixes Tempranillo and Syrah grapes, is a perfect combination option for the drink

São Paulo, November 2022 – Mixing different types of grapes to produce a single wine may seem strange, but it is a more common practice than you might think. Blends are normally used to balance the composition of wines when there are grapes from the same region with different profiles. The combination improves the acidity or sweetness, in order to find a balance so that the drink becomes easier to drink and its good characteristics are enhanced.

“Each producing region has a series of specific grapes. In Bordeaux, France, the best known are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. In Chile and Argentina, blends are not so common, but in Europe, it is rare to find wine options produced with a single grape.”, explains Sandro Martins, commercial manager at Wine to You.

Recently imported by Wine to You, the Spanish wine Knock Knock in its red blend version is a mixture of grapes, 70% Tempranillo and 30% Shiraz, which give the drink harmony, since the latter softens the striking tannins of the Tempranillo, giving a bright red color, fruity aroma with hints of chocolate and a medium-bodied palate to the wine, making the velvety and silky flavors remain in the mouth. This version has 12.5% of alcohol content, being ideal to accompany meats and pasta.

The white blend version of the label is made with a mix of 75% of the versatile Viura grape – widely used in blends – and 25% of Sauvignon Blanc, which has a light, elegant body and a particular freshness. With 11% alcohol content, the label has a bright yellow color, aromatic notes of lime and green apple, fresh and fruity palate, ideal to accompany fish, seafood and creamy cheeses.
