AIR ASTANA PRESENTS “UPCYCLING FOR THE FUTURE” PROJECT

Air Astana has presented “Upcycling for the Future”, a project for creatively recycling used aircraft parts. Decommissioned spares from Boeing 767 and Airbus A320 aircraft, including nose cones, luggage compartment lids, seat frames and other cabin furnishings have been transformed into a unique collection of furniture and interior decorations.

A free-to-enter exhibition of recycled aircraft parts will be on display at the Esentay Gallery in Almaty from today until 25th October 2022.  Items on display including tables, chairs and backpacks sewn from cabin upholstery fabrics are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, with the ability to withstand a variety of temperature and climatic conditions.

At the opening of the exhibition, Peter Foster, President & CEO of Air Astana Group commented, "By creatively recycling unique aircraft parts and rare materials, we not only produce durable products that meet the goals of sustainable development, but also preserve  the spirit of the aircraft and the travel emotions of passengers in a completely new environment.”

Air Astana is gradually implementing a wide-ranging policy of sustainable development through the operation of fuel-efficient aircraft, implementing advanced IT solutions that reduce paper usage and the separate collection of waste in offices.
