Mr Kerr said that the market for adventure tourism just like the Gran Fondo Festival has many benefits on a long terms basis. Important events like these bring many new visitors to their region and from this, the financial profits are endless.
Kerr added that their environment in Port Douglas and the Daintree is ideal for indulging in riding, hiking, and various outdoor activities.
If one looks at the Wangetti Trail, when it would be completed, it would be marvelous for Shire.
Kerr said that if one studies or look at Tasmania on a broader way, they have went through a process and advertised themselves immensely and now they’re getting the benefits of that and New Zealand have done the same.
Kerr said that they have the opportunity to do a similar thing here as well.
In general, the festival has been deemed a huge success.
The spokesperson, Bade Stapleton said, they were excited to see on Sundays so many people enjoying the event and for that matter right across the weekend. Also, the criterium went really good as did the family ride, the track side bar of the Hemingway proved the place to be over the weekend, as the weather was absolutely great.
It was thrilling to witness all of those cyclists smiling as they crossed the line. Participants were just astounded. Another attraction was the party type atmosphere that welcomed riders as they passed by Rex lookout.
