The Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival® (HFWF) announced two new events coming to the Twelfth Annual lineup this fall. The latest additions to the 2022 schedule include on Thursday, October 20 from 5:30 – 9:00 P.M. in Kāʻanapali, Maui and on Saturday, November 5 from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. at the Prince Waikiki. Bringing the total number of Festival events to 14 curated culinary experiences spanning Maui, the Island of Hawai‘i and O‘ahu over three weekends, Girls’ Night Out and Say Cheese! offer festival goers other unique opportunities to connect with HFWF culinary, mixology and wine talents outside of the grand tasting or seated dinner experience.
Previously held on O‘ahu in 2019, the ultimate foodie event for the fashionista comes to chic oceanfront shopping center, Whaler’s Village, to kick off #HFWF22 and the 4-day series of events in Kāʻanapali this October. Beginning the evening with a toast at the new Hawai‘i Wildlife Discovery Center, Girls’ Night Out ticket holders are guided on a hunt for fashion finds at Whalers Village’s hottest retailers—Tori Richard, Maui Divers Jewelry and Johnny Was—while enjoying delicious dishes and chic cocktails in-store from featured restaurants including Hula Grill, Café Jai and Joey’s Kitchen. The evening ends at Sephora where HFWF mixologists shake up specialty cocktails—the perfect night cap for an interactive shopping experience. Plus, guests won’t leave empty handed—all attendees will take home a special gift from each participating retailer and have the chance to win exclusive gift baskets at the end of the night!
Then, in November, HFWF brings “The Cheese Guy”—California-based cheese monger Kent Torrey—to O‘ahu for a special hands-on class where attendees learn the tips and tricks to assemble Instagram-worthy cheese and charcuterie boards. Torrey, who was raised in Hawai‘i, owns The Cheese Shop in Carmel, CA—featured on the Travel Channel worldwide as a “Must See Destination.” Say Cheese! attendees will learn how to select the best products to balance shape, texture, taste and color on their boards, as well as insights about the unique history and origin of special cheeses hand-selected by Torrey. Learning to fold charcuterie like the pros and select the perfect local accoutrements and garnishes, attendees will build their own platter from start to finish and take it home on a special commemorative Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival wooden cheese board. Plus, guests will get an exclusive wine and cheese pairing lesson—swirling and sipping a pair of wines that make for an un-brie-lievable pairing.
