The number of tourist facilities and hotels put up for sale on websites where real estate is sold has approached 2 thousand.
Only in the first two days of 2021, a total of 86 hotels go on sale at one of Turkey’s leading e-commerce websites (sahibinden.com) in Turkey.
Thousands of properties from 5 star to boutique hotels go on sale around the country, while hotels in Antalya and Istanbul lead the number of sales.
Turkish daily newspaper Sözcü reported that Vice-Chairman of Turkish Hoteliers Federation (TUROFED) and Chairman of Aegean Touristic Hotels and Investors Associations – ETIK, Mehmet İşler said there is a panic in the sector.
“Industry players say that they can’t foresee how will be the end of 2021 when they evaluate current events. For this reason, rather than losing their property to banks, they prefer to sell and save some,” comments İşler.
