Qatar Airways offering free tickets for medical workers


Qatar Airways has decided to offer frontline medical professionals and alongside one companion 100,000 free, round-trip tickets to anywhere to in the world. The airline said in a recent press statement that the tickets are being offered as a token of gratitude to the medical workers who are fighting the deadly coronavirus disease from the frontline and saving numerous lives amid the pandemic. The giveaway would begin on May 12 and end on May 18.

The airline has already waived the fare and all surcharges. Passengers receiving the giveaway would only require paying airport taxes. Akbar Al Baker, CEO, Qatar Airways said in a press brief that no words or gestures are enough to repay the brave men and women to are dealing with the worst pandemic in a century. He said that the airline is hoping that the small offer of a complimentary return flight on Qatar Airways will allow the healthcare workers to enjoy a well-deserved holiday after the pandemic is over and travel restrictions begin to ease.

The return flight will be in the economy class and will offer medical workers some deserving time off. The carrier is expecting that the offer will attract thousands of medical workers from all over the world. The airline has also introduced a system to allocate the tickets. Medical professionals will officially register with the airline and receive a unique promotion code on a first-come, first-served basis. Each country will receive a daily allocation of tickets based on its population, which will reset every day at 00:01 (Doha time). The offer will last for seven days, providing everyone seven possible chances.

Qatar Airways also becomes the first airline to offer such a large token of appreciation to medical professionals. The initiative is also the most generous program provided by any airline so far. On the other hand, several other airlines across the globe like Delta, JetBlue, and American Airlines are also doing their part to appreciate and support medical workers or healthcare professionals.
