NAIROBI, KENYA – CityBlue Hotels has announced the location of its first project in Kenya’s capital city and commercial hub of Nairobi which marks the seventh CityBlue in Africa: in the heart of the new business district of Westlands, adjacent to Movenpick and opposite Sankara and Sarit Centre shopping mall.
The 235 feet tall Skynest Residences by CityBlue developed by Elegant Properties will be the largest internationally-branded aparthotel in Kenya and marks CityBlue’s second property in Kenya, complementing the CityBlue Creekside Hotel & Suites in Mombasa. Other hotels in the CityBlue portfolio include three boutique hotels known as Urban by CityBlue - in Dar es Salaam, Kampala and Kigali. The group also successfully operates the mid-range CityBlue Courtyard Hotel & Suites in Livingstone and CityBlue Landmark Hotel & Suites in Mauritius.
Elegant Properties has been at the forefront of hospitality development in Kenya over the last decade with a range of properties including Pullman Hotel in Nairobi, Cowrie Shell Beach Apartments in Mombasa and Golden Sands Beach Resort, Diani.
Skynest Residences by CityBlue has 247 serviced and furnished apartments with 1, 2 and 3 bedroom configurations that are finished to an international standard. The edifice meets Green Building Society Standards and was constructed using eco-friendly and non-polluting materials. The CityBlue-branded aparthotel will be available to both short-stay and extended-stay guests.
In a market seemingly crowded with competing products by well-known brands such as Movenpick, Sankara, Kempinski and Pullman, CityBlue Hotels promises an alternative with a branded residence style property located in the epicentre of Nairobi’s entertainment district, within walking distance of the city’s top bars and restaurants.
Jameel Verjee, Founder and CEO of CityBlue said of the venture, “This is a momentous day for CityBlue and has been years in the making. We look forward to a long-term venture in the commercial capital of East Africa with a truly iconic project. The product will be particularly appealing to medium and long-stay guests but equally to overnighters when it opens by the end of the year. We truly hope that this knits together the CityBlue brand across all major East African hubs, as we now operate in all its capitals and major cities”.
Amjad Rahim, Managing Director of Elegant Properties, expressed great enthusiasm, stating that “We are now partnered with Accor for Pullman Hotel and CityBlue for Skynest Residences. So we believe that the next decade is the era for branded hospitality properties. The 247-unit Skynest Residences by CityBlue will transform Nairobi’s skyline”.
