NASHVILLE, TN—Sound can be music to one’s ears here in Music City. It can also optimize one’s overall health and well-being. Through a partnership with Tune, the JW Marriott Nashville has tapped into biotuning, which is a process of using sound frequencies to switch the body to an optimal functional and emotional state.
“The JW Marriott team discovered Tune during a company off-site last year while going around New York City to gain inspiration from a variety of wellness and mindfulness experiences,” said Lukus Kindlesparker, VP, full service hotels, Turnberry, and GM, JW Marriott Nashville. “The team experienced tune firsthand and loved it so much they decided to reach out to its founder, Kyle Godfrey-Ryan, to learn more and discuss a potential partnership with the brand. The partnership debuted at this year’s Gather, a JW Epicurean and Mindful Experience in Venice, Italy, and has now launched in Nashville for its first-ever on-property offering.”
This first-to-market collaboration furthers the property’s dedication to well-being by providing an oasis for guests and visitors to experience in Nashville’s first Tune studio. More Tune studios are planned at JW Marriott properties across the globe as part of the brand’s larger focus around mindfulness.
“Biotuning is the process of using sound frequencies to switch the body to an optimal functional and emotional state,” said Kindlesparker. “Binaural beats or sound baths are also forms of biotuning. Our specific method of tuning uses the science of sound along with the precision of technology to put the body into a state of rest and recovery. This state of calm positively affects travelers who often have to deal with long travel days, multiple transportation transfers, hectic schedules and potential high-pressure situations when traveling for business. Our new TuneBeds help guests clear their mind and find that state of calm that aids in a balanced approach when taking on these varied daily stresses that can otherwise tend to wear us down.”
Kindlesparker shared the JW Marriott Nashville’s wellness philosophy: “Taking time for ourselves is important and a very simple gift that we can give ourselves to be more present in mind, nourished in body and revitalized in spirit,” he said. “Spa by JW Nashville opened with the intention of providing a wellness experience unlike anything in Nashville today, from treatments that are fully customized to our specific guests’ needs to the high quality of ingredients being used in those treatments.”
At the hotel’s spa, there’s a team of 17 wellness professionals who are passionate about skin care, therapeutic massage, body treatments and the general positive effects self-care provides to all who practice it. In addition, there are many new and unique treatments like the Personal Retreat Massage, products such as Natura Bissé and Mary’s CBD line, and classes including Goat Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation.
With the hotel’s newest alternative therapy—the TuneBeds—visitors and locals select from one of the seven bio-frequencies, ranging from energize to recover.
“Much like a musician who tunes their instrument to keep it in a state of exemplary performance, these proprietary frequency compositions are designed to shift the body from a fight-or-flight state to a rest and recovery state, reset stress hormones and balance the left and right hemispheres of the brain during an immersive, sensory experience,” he said. “The 15-minute process tunes the body and mind on a physiological level, switching the body to an optimal functional and emotional state and facilitating presence, relaxation and happiness. After the session, the mind is clear, the body is relaxed and guests feel like their best self, the way the body is designed and intended to feel.”
The collaboration with Tune is an ideal fit as JW Marriott continues its mission to provide guests and locals with one-of-a-kind experiences.
“We’re thrilled to be the first in Nashville to offer Tune—the first hotel in the world for that matter,” he said. “We also wanted to further build upon our spa and fitness complex with an alternative wellness option featuring a truly innovative use of technology, one that choreographs perfectly with all that is Music City.”
