Agora Residence is the newest accommodation in Chios, that opened its doors on the 15th of July. It is located in the heart of Chios Town, also called “Chora”, near the central market, thus the name “Agora”.
The 9 unique rooms once part of a 1890s mansion that was owned by Pissi family, established merchants of citrus products, for which Chios is known. The residence was restored with respect to the building’s original architecture.
The owners and instigators behind this project, Vassilis Pappas and Nikos Fykaris, trusted the outcome to ArchitectLenia Stefanidou, who brought out the best out of the originalilty. In Vassilis’ words: “Chios is a unique destination and part of this, is the architecture. We managed to find this very well preserved 19th century mansion and we aimed to create something unique by also paying respect to our culture, without altering anything. We invested a lot of time and effort so that the unique features, such as the painted ceilings, the large wooden windows and entrance gate (which we used as a sample for our logo), remain original. We wanted our guests to really live this authentic hospitality!”
Apart from the building’s architecture, Agora Residence’s classic style was enhanced with vintage furniture, part of owner’s private collection. The outcome of this effort created a unique and authentic style in each one of the rooms, all of which are equipped with comfortable beds with anatomical mattresses, 32’ Flat TVs, Free WiFi, coffee & tea facilities, a working desk, bathroom amenities and more. Some of the rooms feature kitchen facilities and balconies with city view.
The property offers all the comforts & facilities of a contemporary accommodation, such as WiFi, a lounge area, concierge service and daily cleaning. The backyard of the residence was transformed to a quiet “retreat” cafe area that will serve breakfast, refreshments, coffee & tea, drinks and light meals & snacks. This creates a unique space for guests and visitors to relax, while staying in the heart of Chios Town, near the main market.
Agora Residence is located on the pedestrian street of Aplotaria and is less than 800m. from Chios Port and just 4 km from the Airport. All the attractions in Chios Town, such as the Castle and the Archaeological Museum are at walking distance from the property. Pubic parking is available in the nearby streets, yet for the busy months, a private parking in close distance can be arranged.
