Passenger traffic surges by 12.3% at Pulkovo Airport for Jan-May 19’

Pulkovo Airport welcomed 6,779,290 passengers in Jan-May 2019, which is a 12.3 percent rise from the previous year, for the given period. The number of passengers on domestic flights grew by 14.2 percent to 4,417,759 passengers. International traffic increased by 9 percent to 2,361,531 passengers.

The top domestic destinations for Jan-May 2019 are Moscow, Sochi, Kaliningrad, Simferopol and Krasnodar. The top foreign destinations for the said period are Antalya, Larnaca, Paris, Munich and Frankfurt am Main.

In January-May 2019, Rossiya Airlines, Aeroflot, Pobeda, S7 Airlines, and Ural Airlines were the largest Russian carriers in terms of passenger numbers at Pulkovo. Together they contributed 63 percent of the total traffic – 4,237,055 passengers at St. Petersburg Airport.

Among the foreign airlines, Lufthansa, Uzbekistan Airways, Belavia, Finnair, and airBaltic became the leaders at St. Petersburg Airport for the first 5-month period of 2019. In total, they handled 499,530 passengers at Pulkovo which was 7.4 percent of the total airport traffic in January-May 2019.

In May 2019, 1,708,252 passengers travelled through Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport, a number 8.4 percent higher than in the same month of 2018.

Domestic traffic increased by 10.9 percent to 1,016,166 passengers compared to the same period of 2018. International traffic grew by 4.9 percent year-on-year and amounted to 692,086 passengers.

In May 2019, the route network of Pulkovo Airport expanded with three new destinations: Izmir (Turkey), Gelendzhik and Irkutsk (Russia).
