On Monday, the China Tourism and Culture Week were introduced in Yangon, with the target of intensifying exchanges and cooperation in tourism and culture along with friendship promotion between people of the two countries.
While speaking at the opening ceremony, Charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy Li Xiaoyan highlighted the significance of the cooperation of the two countries under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, explaining that the two countries initiated a new page of cooperation in tourism and culture to extend the Paukphaw (fraternal) friendship between the two peoples.
Li called for grabbing the opportunity of China Tourism and Culture Week to expand cooperation in expectation of the 70th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2020 and struggle for improved bilateral relations underlying the support of the existing friendly relations.
Rector of the University of Culture and Arts of Myanmar U Aung Naing Myint, representing Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture U Aung Ko, said belief that the event would merge the companionship between the two countries and act as a foundation of developing cooperation in the sectors of tourism and culture.
Director-General of Culture and Tourism Department of China’s Yunnan Province He Ligui mentioned that the event brings closer support between Yunnan Province and Myanmar, hoping for a good outcome from such expanded cooperation in the sectors.
The event was arranged by the Chinese Embassy, Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and China Cultural Center in Yangon.
Scholars and experts from the two countries on Monday afternoon arranged discussions on overhauling and conservation of Bagan pagodas, fusion of culture and tourism, China online travel agency’s novel opportunity of outbound travel routes, and conservation of tourism culture and inheritance.
