The colossal digital innovation project pre-announced in recent months by IEG – ITALIAN EXHIBITION GROUP has begun.

The partnership with US giant Ruckus and all-Italian SAMU, has brought leading edge technological solutions, innovating the network infrastructure of Rimini Expo Centre all to the advantage of its Clients, favouring not only their activities at the venue, but also the economic perspective: in fact, for the Imperial College of London, 10% more use of mobile broadband results in an increase in global business of up to 2.8%.

Rimini Expo Centre has now become a gigantic hot spot, has 25 km of fibre optic cable and all the most avant-garde digitalized facilities at the service of exhibitors and buyers (automation, video surveillance systems,  geolocation services and much more) thanks also to a cabled network able to handle the communication band between switches at 160Gb/s

Numbers and data tracking – fully respecting privacy and current regulations – can now really be handled and the Big Data web is no longer a matter of announcements, but of real-life projects.

The system is based on modularity and flexibility which ensures it will be ready for redesign with a view to the arrival of 5G technology which, according to Next Generation Mobile Networks, the association that includes the sector’s most important drivers, will be usable from 2021 and within 2025 will revolutionize the communication world with over 75 billion objects able to be interconnected. The first test of the new network system of the Rimini Expo Centre took place in January with SIGEP 2019, the international artisan confectionery expo, the confirmations arrived recently with MiR – Music Inside Rimini and Macfrut and the definitive launch will coincide in a few days with the explosion of visitors at Rimini Wellness (being held from 30th May to 2nd June) which in 2018 hosted 250,000 attendees, 20,000 trade members and 400 companies.

A curious fact. Rimini expo centre, designed by Studio GMP of Hamburg, was born already “digitalized” in far-off 2001: in fact, the entire expo area was designed ready for the installation of cabling.

IEG is now preparing for the digital innovation of Vicenza Exhibition Centre, also owned by the Group.
