Commencing 31 March 2019, Qantas’ daily Sydney-Denpasar service will be operated by the larger Airbus A330, which will meet demand for more seats and comfort to the popular destination.
The aircraft switch comes after Qantas trialled the A330 on the route during the recent peak summer period.
The Flying Kangaroo explained that the new aircraft will add 650 seats on the route each week, meeting demand for travel between Australia and Indonesia, which increased by 200 percent over the last decade to reach 1.2 million during the year ending October 2018.
As well as accommodating growth, the aircraft will also give premium flyers access to the airline’s lie-flat Business suites and improved inflight entertainment.
Qantas International Chief Executive Officer Alison Webster expects the A330 to be as popular on six-hour overnight flights to Bali, as it is with customers on other routes.
“Bali is an incredibly popular destination with Australians, and we are seeing an increase in demand for premium travel.”

The Flying Kangaroo re-commenced operating Sydney to Bali services in 2015 over Australia’s summer as a seasonal service, before making the Sydney-Bali services year-round in March 2017. In May 2018, Qantas also launched a daily Melbourne-Bali service using a Boeing 737-800.
Together with Jetstar, the additional capacity will see the Qantas Group offer close to 38,000 seats a week between Australia and Bali.
