Ever thought of escaping the crowd of the city? Airbnb is looking for volunteers to send to a picturesque village in Italy for three months, as per a release from the company.
In collaboration with Wonder Grottole, an NGO that endorses urban regeneration, Airbnb is recruiting four Italian volunteers from Matera province.
They will work as Experience and Home hosts, and trained to speak the language and manage the vegetable garden of the village. Also, the position would permit volunteers to explore the Italian countryside and learn to cook traditional meals.
The aim of the joint effort is to boost up tourism by turning the village a must-see stop. At present, the village has a population of 300, and has over 600 abandoned houses.
To meet the criteria for the opportunity, you must be over 18 years of age, able to speak good conversational English, and to show “commitment to contribute to village life.” Visit www.italiansabbatical.com to learn more about the program and how to apply for it.
