Florida welcomed 95.8 million visitors from Jan. to Sept. 2018, as per a report from Visit Florida. It recorded 6.7 per cent increase over the same period in 2017. About 89.8 million people had visited Florida between Jan-Sept. 17’. The rise in tourists’ footfalls defied heat and toxic algae.
The report shows that 30.7 million visitors traveled to Florida in the third quarter of 2018, a rise of 10.1 per cent over the same period in 2017. These include 27.5 million domestic visitors, 2.7 million overseas visitors and 490,000 Canadian.
Visit Florida is a publicly funded agency that promotes the state’s tourism. For seven years in a row, the state’s tourism industry has been growing.
In a press release Gov. Rick Scott said that 2018 has been a robust year for Florida travel. Florida’s tourism industry continues to fuel state’s economic growth. In Orlando, the number of visitors is climbing.
In May 2017, 72 million people visited Orlando — making Orlando the first U.S. city to surpass the 70 million threshhold for tourists. In 2017, about 118.8 million tourists visited Florida.
