About 25.96 million international tourists set foot in Greece till September. It recorded a 10.3 per cent increase from 2017 for the same given period. Greece is becoming popular with foreign visitors.
Most of the visitors came from the European Union. About 18.63 million travellers arrived during the first nine months of 2018, recording a 16.1 per cent more than 2017.
The number of German tourists increased by 25.1 per cent, while that of the British reduced by 0.5 per cent.
With 7.33 million, the number of non- EU visitors decreased by 2.2 per cent, for the first nine months of 2018.
The number of travellers from the U.S. increased by 19 per cent, while those from Russia fell by 15.5 per cent.
Revenues from cruise ships totalled 354 million Euros, which was about the same, compared to the same period of 2017.
According to the Bank of Greece, the nine-month revenues of Greece’s tourism was 14.2 billion Euros, a 9.1 per cent rise. In 2017, there was 13 billion Euros revenue for the same period of the last year.
The spending of EU travellers increased by 12.2% to almost 10 billion Euros, and citizens outside the EU spent 2.7 per cent more, about 4 billion Euros.
