Singapore Airlines, the world’s longest nonstop scheduled passenger service, flying from Singapore to New York, bagged the world’s best airlines awards. It toppled Air New Zealand from the first position in the Airline Excellence Awards of the rating agency AirlineRatings. Air New Zealand, had been at the top for five consecutive years.
AirlineRatings announced the Airline Excellence Awards.
The top 10 airlines for 2018 are Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Virgin Australia, Emirates, All Nippon Airways, EVA Air, Cathay Pacific Airways and Japan Airlines in descending order.
Singapore Airlines leads in passenger innovations and new state-of-the-art aircraft models as per Geoffrey Thomas, AirlineRatings’ Editor-in-Chief.
The awards are compiled using major international industry and government safety audits, plus 12 key criteria including fleet age, passenger reviews, profitability, investment ratings, staff relations and product offerings.
Singapore Airlines, won AirlineRatings’ Best First Class prize. It had earlier won the coveted Skytrax Airline of the Year Award, 2018.
Qatar Airways, secured Best Catering and Best Business Class award. Aussie airline Qantas picked up the Best Lounges award for the second year.
Emirates was recognized for pioneering top inflight entertainment options.
KoreanAir was recognized for its spacious seats for the second year running. Westjet won the Best Low-Cost Airline in the Americas, Wizz in Europe and AirAsia / AirAsia X in Asia / Pacfic.
