LVMH is well on its way to lead a plan of about US$72 million win an aim ti transform the capital’s 157-year-old Jardin d’Acclimatation into one of the leading three amusement parks of France.
Luxury goods giant LMVH that had been managing the parks since the year 1984 is holding an 80% stake in a partnership with Compagnie des Alpes, a theme park and resorts developer.
Last year, the officials of Paris had renewed the concession of LVMH for the 18-hectare Jardin d’ Acclimatation in the western part of the city paving the way for a renovation of the beautiful garden and its attractions. The contract for the concession runs for 25 years.
The work would be commencing on 4th September and would continue till 1st May, 2018.
This work would comprise 17 new attractions some of which would be themed around ‘steampunk’. Steampunk represents a science fiction subgenre obtaining its inspiration from the 19th century industrial steam-powered machines.
Compagnie de Alpes and LVMH that are controlled by Bernard Arnault seeks to increase the annual tourist numbers to about 3 million by 2025 from 2 million currently, that would be placing it behind Disneyland Paris but ahead of Parc Asterix.
Delphine Pons, head of development at Compagnie de Alpes mentioned at a news conference that their goal is to ensure that Jardin d’ Acclimatation is ranked second or third among all the theme parks in France.
During March, Arnault had revealed about a plan that would seek to refurnish a disuses public building close to Louis Vuitton Foundation near Jardin d’ Acclimatation in the Bois de Boulogne, close to the 16th district of Paris.
