Antalya expects as much as 8 million foreign tourists this year, as revealed by the head of the Professional Hotel Management Association (POYD). It has its official headquarters in the region of Antalya.

Hakan Duran, the head of POYD told the media agencies that the fifth most populous city in the country of Turkey is looking forward to an overwhelming 7.5 to 8 million international travellers in 2017. The figures actually represent a 30% rise in the tourism numbers as compared to the same in the year 2016.

Duran also added that the early booking rates from the countries of southern Europe like Portugal, Spain, Greece and Spain has reached to about 40%.

It is expected that Russian tourists would make up a lion’s chunk of foreign tourists to this beautiful Mediterranean city.

He went on to specify that they are expecting to welcome nearly 2 to 2.5 million Russian tourists this year. He feels that if the city is capable of reaching this number, they would be able to close 2017 with nearly 7.5 to 8 million foreign tourists despite the presence of 1 million losses from the European market.

Duran has also asserted that POYD has anticipated that as many as 650,000 to 700,000 Israeli tourists would be visiting Antalya this year.
