Foreign tourists complain of being duped at Ajanta and Ellora

Aurangabad, famous for Ajanta and Ellora caves is a major tourism site, with large numbers of foreign tourists pouring in every day. But many of them have complained of being harassed by illegal hawkers and photographers who have often charged them more. This is indeed a blot in the popularity of this famous place.

The gravity of the issue has even been acknowledged by Jaswant Singh, President of the Aurangabad Tourism Promoters Guild and Annasaheb Shinde, Auranagbad regional officer –Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, who said that the government should take proper action to handle these issues.

They said that foreign tourists are indeed cheated and the perpetrators should be subject to legal action if found guilty of duping such tourists, because incidents like these are marring reputation of these heritage sites. Many foreign tourists have complained of being swindled buying handicraft items. Hence, it’s about time that the authorities implemented strict rules and an apt system, so that foreign tourists can visit the heritage site freely without being a victim of monetary cheating and annoyance by touts.
