Dubai World Central targets 20,000 hotel rooms

Dubai World Central, which is currently under construction in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, will be an economic zone to support a number of activities including logistics, aviation, commercial, exhibition, hospitality, residential and other related businesses around Al Maktoum International Airport. It is planned an annual capacity of 12 million tonnes of cargo and 160 million passengers. To accommodate all those passengers currently there are numerous hotel and residential projects in the region.
Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide plans to open a hotel under its mid-scale brand Aloft in Dubai World Central (DWC) by 2018.
Millennium & Copthorne (MEA) has announced the signing of four hotels in Dubai. The properties include three Studio M hotels, the firm’s contemporary budget concept as well as a Millennium hotel and are set to open in Dubai World Central, Dubai Investments Park and Al Barsha.
As more hotel operators are eyeing expansion opportunities at DWC, DWC vice president, real estate Mohammed Al Awadhi, told Hotelier Middle East that Dubai World Central will offer at least 20,000 hotel rooms by 2025.
