LASHING out on luxury hotels is becoming the new normal, with data from HotelsCombined showing the number of five-star hotel bookings in Australia has increased by 194 per cent since 2013.
Global PR Manager at HotelsCombined, Alycia Simons says that the increase in bookings
suggests travellers are increasingly willing to spend that little bit more to ensure that their getaway is comfortable.
Short, luxurious getaways appear to be the trend with travellers staying on average only two nights in five-star accommodations. In Australia, travellers booking five-star hotels spent an average of $322 (AUD) per night, a slight decrease from $330 (AUD) per night in the same time period.
