Joseph Fayad appointed as Corporate IT Director as hotel
chain eyes new opportunities in technological capabilities to support regional
expansion strategy
UAE-headquartered hospitality company, TI’ME Hotels Management has announced
the appointment of Joseph Fayad as its new Corporate Director of Information
Technology as it moves to implement several major IT initiatives including
cloud computing and virtual technology.
A graduate of the Lebanese University faculty of science, Beirut, with
15 years’ experience in the hospitality field, Fayad is reprising his hotel
career following the completion of a 12-month project at the American
University of Technology in Jbeil, Lebanon, where he was appointed to
restructure and leverage the university’s IT capabilities.
Prior to this he was the managing partner of Computer Communication
Services, Beirut, where he consulted on a number of hospitality and real estate
client projects including Teal Hospitality, which manages two Dubai-based
properties, and Al Fahd Hotels & Resorts in Saudi Arabia.
“Joseph’s experience and in-depth understanding of both the hospitality
sector and the light-speed nature of the IT world, means that he is able to
jump in at the deep end and take the lead in implementing corporate plans to
upgrade our IT capabilities in order to drive new business opportunities,” said
Mohamed Awadalla, CEO, TIME Hotels.
Following
enhancements to its guest Internet service offerings last year, 2015 will see
TIME Hotels introduce virtual technology applications across its expanding
portfolio and take its pilot cloud computing programme to the next level, as
well as continue with the switch to using multi-function devices in order to significantly
reduce carbon footprint, energy costs and power consumption as part of its
corporate sustainability mandate.
“It’s an extremely
exciting time to join the TIME Hotels team as growth plans for the region and
the increasing geographic diversification of its portfolio requires an
accelerated IT infrastructure designed to streamline operations, increase
efficiency and add value to the guest experience. It's more important now, than
ever before, that the industry invests into new technologies and applications
as we move even further away from a tangible to a virtual operational
environment, and TIME is definitely looking to position itself as a leader in
the field,” said Fayad.
Senior property and
area IT roles with Habtoor Hospitality and Crowne Plaza have given Fayad a
well-rounded experience covering all aspects of the operation from the planning
and implementation of new systems and system migration to IT solution provision
and involvement in the technological application of corporate marketing
strategies.
“I am also keen to
develop our in-house talent as TIME Hotels places great emphasis on personnel
development, and with the rapid pace of change in the IT world, this is an area
that offers tremendous opportunity,” said Fayad.
His passion for his
own professional development has also seen Fayad attend numerous conferences,
seminars and technology forums delivered by leading solutions providers
including Microsoft, Cisco, Avaya, HP and ERP Solutions.
In his spare time
he swaps a computer screen for action as an avid football, volleyball and
tennis player.
