Southampton Airport welcomed 148,000 passengers in March 2015, which was 14% higher than the previous year. International passengers increased by 8% and domestic passengers were 17% up on 2014.
Destinations with the most positive growth, year on year, include Aberdeen, Leeds, Newcastle, Belfast and Manchester within the UK and Dublin, Amsterdam, Lleida (Pyrenees), Grenoble, La Rochelle and Faro internationally.
Dave Lees, Managing Director of Southampton Airport, said: “Our passengers have been making the most of the final weeks of snow; heading for the Pyrenees and Alps on ski breaks. Southampton Airport is now gearing up for an eventful summer season with several exciting new destination being launched in the coming weeks.”
This summer sees the introduction of four brand new destinations from Southampton Airport; a daily service to Antwerp with VLM (starts 23rd April), Milan (starts 16th May) and Corsica (starts 24th May) with Flybe, a peak summer service to Lorient (selected dates in July & August) with Eastern Airways. Holiday makers can also book through their favourite tour operator, as Thomas Cook, Thomson, First Choice and Prestige begin programmes from Southampton Airport next month.
