Cruise Industry Charitable Foundation Donates $25,000 to the American Diabetes Association, Tour de Cure


The Cruise Industry Charitable Foundation (CICF) is proud to present the American Diabetes Association a donation of $25,000 in support of this year’s “Tour de Cure” bike race, raising money and increasing awareness of diabetes, a disease that affects nearly 30 million Americans.

“The Cruise Industry Charitable Foundation continuously seeks to support programs designed to improve the quality of life in communities where cruise lines operate and work in partnership with many local businesses,” said Jim Border of Carnival Corporation & plc who serves as Chairman of CICF.  “It is amazing to see all the great work being done by the American Diabetes Association to help cure this terrible disease and to help all those affected by it. The Cruise Industry Charitable Foundation is pleased to be part of this worthy cause.”

In today’s Tour de Cure, over 500 cyclists of all levels came together in Lakewood Ranch, Florida to fight diabetes and raise critical funds for the American Diabetes Association activities, including:


  • Funding research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes.
  • Delivering services to hundreds of affected communities.
  • Provide objective and credible information.
  • Giving voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes.


Although the journey to a cure for diabetes may be a long one, the Cruise Industry Charitable Foundation is happy be along for the ride.
