For those looking for more than simply spending Christmas on a beach in the sun, Sun International’s SUNLUX collection has introduced a ‘Golden Triangle’ Christmas Celebration: lifelong memories for the hotels’ guests and lifelong gifts for the indigenous communities in which they operate.
Guests of The Table Bay hotel in Cape Town, The Royal
Livingstone Hotel in Zambia and The Palace of the Lost City in Sun City – the
three very different luxury properties that comprise SUNLUX - will return home
with more than just a tan and Christmas gifts. Each hotel will create the
ultimate in luxury travel journeys: an unforgettable Christmas trip that
immerses visitors in Cape Town’s modern vibe, dips into Zambia’s Zambezi river
to the Victoria Falls – the world’s largest and most spectacular waterfall –
and offers the chance to holiday like royalty at The Palace of the Lost
City. In turn, each property has outlined the gifts they will share with
their communities to benefit ill children, the environment and local orphanages.
The Table Bay hotel
To honour the life of Nelson Mandela, guests at The
Table Bay will be offered the opportunity to breakfast with one of the
ex-inhabitants of Robben Island’s cells and find out their own personal
experiences alongside Madiba. Together with this honoured guide and
storyteller, the guests will go on to experience a private tour of the island,
visit Nelson Mandela’s cell and beloved garden.
The Table Bay is also partnering with local charity
GreenPop – planting trees, changing minds - that believes a green and
sustainable life can and should be accessible for all. On Christmas Eve
2014, each guest room will be adorned with a beaded Christmas Tree from
Greenpop, the funding of which will support the charity in developing a
pro-active campaign to create awareness of the importance of planting a tree in
an area of need. Guests will be given the GPS co-ordinates of a tree
previously planted by Greenpop for their personal story telling once home. In
addition, The Table Bay will donate 100 trees to one of the local community
schools they support, and the staff will be involved in the planting of the
trees before the end of year festive holidays.
The hotel will focus on a tree lighting ceremony with
Christmas carols for the guests on the lawn in front of the hotel. The
celebration will continue at the new and stylish Camissa restaurant where chef
Jocelyn has finalised a special Christmas tasting menu for all the family,
including wine tasting for the adults.
The Palace of The Lost City
The Palace of the Lost City, nestled in an extinct
volcanic crater surrounded by the Pilanesberg Big 5-nature reserve and 2 hours
drive from Johannesburg, is the perfect resort for a golden Christmas
experience. Feel the Christmas vibe from the gates to the palatial suites, each
of which is decorated with its own Christmas tree.
Wake up to Christmas Day itself with a hot air balloon
safari overlooking the big 5 game within the Pilanesberg National Park. But
Christmas at the Palace gives guests much more...
The Palace is once again supporting Reach For A Dream
foundation; assisting in making a seriously ill child’s dream a reality,
distracting them from illness and the hospital environment. On 2 December, just
before the Nedbank Golf Challenge at the hotel, The Palace will invite children
and their families to meet their golfing heroes and then switch on the resort’s
Christmas tree lights alongside the winner of the Nedbank Golf Challenge from
the previous year.
This is a unique celebration where each guest is
invited to join in the festivities including dedicated entertainment, eggnog,
mince pies and candy canes, plus a chance to have a photo taken with Santa himself.
The Christmas celebrations continue with ‘Carols by
candle light’ on Christmas Eve, together with interactive story telling for the
children under the African sky, a Christmas Day Parade and many other
activities for both children and grown-ups.
The Royal Livingstone Hotel
The gracious Royal Livingstone, located at the lip of
the Victoria Falls is a hidden gem and the perfect destination to share the
Christmas holidays with loved ones. Sample a slice of heaven and a golden
experience that is truly one of a kind.
Celebrate Christmas on board the Royal Livingstone
Express for an evocative and festive train ride from the town of Livingstone to
the Victoria Falls and enjoy a cocktail in direct view of the Falls and a
dinner in the African bush.
From The Royal Livingstone, enjoy a unique opportunity
to create your own adventure as did David Livingstone, the explorer who
discovered the mighty Mosi-Oa-Tunya (Smoke that Thunders) National
Park and fell in love with this incredible country. The view of the Victoria
Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, is reminiscent of a
biblical impression of paradise.
Alternatively, guests can visit The Royal
Livingstone Dining Room, the perfect venue for the ultimate family Christmas
party. What better way to start the Christmas feast celebration than on the
banks of the Zambezi, in an indoor or outdoor setting with zebras and giraffes
also grazing peacefully nearby on the lawns. Local Jazz entertainers will also
be delighting diners throughout the festive season with a special performance
on Christmas Eve.
Christmas is a special time not only for The Royal
Livingstone guests. Throughout the year The Royal Livingstone supports six
local orphanages which will get to experience a special Christmas train ride on
the Royal Livingstone Express.
