Hangzhou International Travel Fair (HITF) 2014 will launch as part of this year’s West Lake International Expo Hangzhou China, one of the largest trade fairs held annually since 1929, which focused on the promotion of commerce and trade, as well as science and technology in Hangzhou, China.
The 16th West Lake International Expo will be held from the 17th to 19th October 2014 at the Zhejiang World Trade International Exhibition Center, Hangzhou. The expo is segmented into four major sections, namely trade and technology, cultural experience, tourism and leisure as well as traditional programs.

The West Lake International Expo last year attracted 8 million visitors and generatedover 15 billionyuan in trade business, US$1 billion in contracted foreign investment and 15 billion yuan in domestic investment.This year’s 29-day event is expected to receive not less than 8 million visitors and generate 10 billion yuan (approximately US$1.6 billion) in trade business, US$1 billion in contracted foreign investment and 10 billion yuan (approximately US$1.6 billion) in domestic investment.
As a key component in the tourism and leisure section at the 2014 West Lake International Expo, HITF 2014 will highlight the importance of the tourism sector playing its part in the stable and orderly economic development of Hangzhou.At present, tourism remains a significant factor for Hangzhou’s economy. The new high-speed railway linking Nanjing, Shanghai and Hangzhou, regarded as the “Golden Triangle” is expected to significantly enhance the expansion of tourism in the region. Shorter commutes through major cities translates into more tourist visits and will give rise toincreasing sales of travel packages and products in Hangzhou.
