Hampton
Hotels, the international brand of nearly 1,900 mid-priced Hampton
Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites and Hampton by Hilton hotels, announced
the results of a strong first quarter, with the opening of 22 new
properties and the addition of 2,134 new guestrooms.
This
follows a strong 2012, which saw more than 70 new hotel openings and
numerous accolades for the brand, including being named the top
franchise for the third year in a row in Entrepreneur magazine's
annual Franchise 500® and Travel Weekly's 2012 mid-priced hotel
chain Reader's Choice Awards winner for the fifth year in a row.
Collectively in 2013, nearly 90 new properties are expected to open,
adding to the brand's current guestroom count of more than 186,000
rooms globally.
Openings
in the first three months of 2013 included ten Hampton Inn, ten
Hampton Inn & Suites and two Hampton by Hilton properties. Most
notably, two hotels in Colombia opened during the first quarter,
supporting the brand's growth strategy in emerging markets such as
South America. The 125-room Hampton by Hilton Barranquilla, which is
centrally located near Puerto Colombia's white-sand beaches and the
Buenavista shopping mall, opened in February. The 135-room Hampton by
Hilton Cartagena, set in the bustling Bocagrande district, opened in
March. Both hotels are already attracting leisure and business
travelers, showcasing Hampton by Hilton's signature brand offerings
including a free hot breakfast, a Clean and Fresh Hampton bed™ and
free Wi-Fi.
In
Q1 2013, Hampton Hotels opened domestic properties in Georgia,
Missouri, North Carolina and Texas. For the first time, two Hilton
Worldwide brands, Hampton Inn & Suites and Home2 Suites,
partnered for a combined property in Huntsville, Alabama. The
175-room property – which features shared meeting and function
space, pool facilities, fitness centers and other amenities –
includes 98 Hampton Inn & Suites guestrooms.
