LATAM Airlines Group
S.A. and its subsidiaries, the leading airline group
in Latin America, has reported preliminary monthly traffic statistics
for January 2013 compared to January 2012.
System
passenger traffic increased 6.3% as capacity rose 6.1%. As a result,
the Company’s load factor for the month increased 0.1 points to
81.2%. International passenger traffic accounted for approximately
50,6% of the month’s total passenger traffic.
Domestic
passenger traffic in LATAM Airlines Group’s Spanish
speaking operations (Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia)
rose 10.7%, as capacity increased 10.8%. As a consequence, the
domestic passenger load factor decreased 0.1 points to 81.0%.
Domestic
passenger traffic in Brazil rose
3.8%, as capacity decreased 5.2%. As a consequence, the
domestic Brazilpassenger load factor increased 7.3 points to
83.8%.
International
passenger traffic rose 6.7%, while capacity increased 13.6%.
Accordingly, the international passenger load factor for the month
decreased 5.1 points to 79.6%. International traffic includes
international operations of both LAN and TAM on regional and long
haul routes.
Cargo
traffic for LATAM Airlines Group decreased 1.1% as capacity
increased 4.9%. As a consequence, the cargo load factor decreased 3.2
points to 52.5%. The decrease in traffic was driven by weaker imports
into Latin America.
