MakeMyTrip Q2 impacted by 'subdued' outbound travel

India -based online travel agency MakeMyTrip (MMT) has reported a 11% increase to $2.7 billion in gross bookings for its fiscal 2027 second quarter.

Air ticketing revenue decreased 7% to $57 million year over year while hotels and packages revenue declined 1% to $107 million.

Bus ticketing revenue, meanwhile, increased 17% to $39 million in the quarter ended September 30, 2026.

Air ticketing adjusted margin increased 6% to $109 million while adjusted margin for hotels and packages rose 10% to $117 million. MMT’s revenue from others business increased by 22% to $32 million in the quarter.

Rajesh Magow, group CEO of MMT, said the company had “delivered strong growth despite a challenging travel environment.”

“Growth in hotels and ground transport underscored the resilience of our diversified portfolio and our ability to serve evolving customer needs. We are using AI to simplify travel planning and booking, supported by our extensive supply network, integrated distribution platform and trusted service. We continue to invest with discipline to capture India’s long-term travel opportunity and deliver sustainable, profitable growth,” he said.

The company said its Q2 results were impacted by a depreciation of the Indian rupee against the U.S. dollar. It also said international long-haul outbound travel remained down with fuel prices driving higher airfares.
